Characteristics of gifted children

a gifted child has certain characteristics

Having a talent can create different characteristics throughout life. A child may not be talented in the academic field, but from that side, in the field of art or sports, he is full of special abilities. Also, successful education makes people progress. The requirement for progress in life is effort.

Helping children to develop should be done by the family. All of us may have come across gifted children or even our own child may fall under the category of gifted children. Being able to recognize that our child is classified as a smart child can have a significant impact on his upbringing. To identify gifted children, you can use an IQ test, or by knowing the characteristics of gifted children, you can take action much earlier to adopt the right methods of raising children. Some children usually have the ability to learn faster than their peers.

Parents are often surprised that their child has not yet reached developmental milestones but is able to learn skills. Gifted children, by definition, are those who show high performance in intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership capacity, or specific academic fields.

Characteristics of gifted children:

1. Children’s learning speed

The learning speed of gifted children is usually high. Therefore, most children who learn quickly are smart and talented. Of course, this assumption is not always true. It is difficult for us to determine the level of talent and intelligence of a child based on his developmental milestones. Because there are many smart children who have not yet reached some developmental milestones. Not all smart children start talking very quickly. Some intelligent children may start speaking later, but when they do, they have a high ability to complete sentences. Also, not all gifted and bright children are able to read very quickly. However, when they start reading, they will make significant progress in this skill.

2. Connecting gifted children with older children

Smart kids usually tend to play with older kids; Because older children tend to communicate with their peers to share their common interests. On the other hand, many toys and games for talented children that are related to their age group become boring for them. Therefore, after a while, they turn to playing and using the toys of older children. In simpler words, a smart child communicates with the environment at a level above his age. Therefore, unconsciously or out of curiosity, they are drawn to the tools designed for older people.

3. Biological differences

There are biological differences between gifted and typical children. It seems that the gifted child has advanced cell production that also increases his synaptic activity. All of this adds up to an ever-increasing thought process. It appears that the neurons in a child’s brain are more biochemically gifted and, as a result, the brain patterns that develop are able to process more complex thoughts. Apparently, the activity of the cortex is higher in the frontal part of the brain, which leads to insight and intuitive thinking. Gifted children have more alpha wave activity in their brains. Not only do they have faster alpha wave activity than typical children, but they also maintain it for longer. This allows them to learn more easily and with greater focus, with greater retention and integration. A gifted child’s brain cycles often occur frequently, allowing him to focus, pay attention, research, and investigate.
